Pride in STEM is once again funding our “Small Grants” Programme. This year’s theme is “Strengthening Queer Community in STEM”

The Small Grants fund supports projects across the UK that engage with this theme in meaningful ways within their local communities. We’re particularly keen to support initiatives that are created with, by, and for minoritised LGBTQ+ communities in STEM — especially trans*, QTPOC, working-class LGBTQ+ individuals, and disabled LGBTQ+ folk.

Last year, we supported five Small Grants recipients for our theme “Queer in STEM Beyond Visibility” – with projects based across the UK, ranging from computing, marine animals, climate-health. These projects re-imagined what projects could do to bring together communities, upskill queer folks, or provide road maps to STEM organisations toward inclusive practices. You can read more about these projects on our website. The recipients also had the opportunity to present their projects at the Royal Institution, London.

We’re looking for proposals that expand on Pride in STEM’s mission,  encouraging applicants to explore new approaches that go beyond talk-series. Successful applicants will receive up to £1,000 in 2025-6 to support their project. We expect projects to be delivered within 6 to 9 months of the award being granted, though we welcome conversations about extended timelines if needed.

As part of the award, Pride in STEM will highlight your project, and with your permission, your story on our website and social media, and at our larger events. We will offer you the opportunity to present your project at a larger event we sponsor. We also ask that our branding be included on any materials you produce. At the conclusion of your project, we require a brief report; this can be around 600 words, or a video/audio submission of similar depth, along with a summary of how the funds were used.

We expect to fund 3-5 projects in the 2025 round.

To apply, submit the completed document by 28th August 2025 through this online form. We recommend drafting answers offline before submitting this form.

Incomplete applications or those received after the deadline will not be considered.

For any questions or additional information, please contact Ellie Armstrong, at prideinstem@gmail.com, with ‘Small Grants’ in the title of the email.

We aim to give decisions no later than four weeks after the deadline.
