Izzy Jayasinghe is a researcher specialising in optical microscopy and biophysics of muscle. She is also a lecturer in cardiovascular and exercise physiology at the University of Leeds. Izzy developed her interest in high-resolution microscopy methods when she started investigating the protein organisation patterns in the heart, during her PhD. Currently, her research focuses on developing new microscopy tools, and applying them to understand the molecular basis of heart disease. Further to her core focus on teaching and research, Izzy works on a number of avenues advocating for gender equality and diversity in academia and beyond.
