DR Mario Toubes-ROdrigo

Dr Mario Toubes-Rodrigo is an environmental microbiologist and astrobiologist based at the Open University who is interested in life on the extremes, and how organisms surviving on those conditions can give us clues about how life on other planets could be, especially Mars. Part of his research consists of analysing biosignatures, so traces that organisms leave that can be indicative of life. He holds a PhD in subglacial geomicrobiology from the Manchester Metropolitan University, after obtaining a MSc at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Environmental Microbiology. Although based in London his research is based between Milton Keynes and Colchester. When not doing science he can be found playing the ukulele, writing poetry, bringing a flare into Science Communication (sometimes even combining them), or gaming.
