Niamh Kavanagh

Niamh is a PhD candidate working in the area of physics and photonics, her research looks into future systems for fibre optic communications. She has been involved in a wide variety of outreach initiatives (such as the Science Apprentice Book series, Smart Futures school visits and Teen-turn mentor) and has won awards for science communication (including Famelab Ireland, Thesis in 3 and the IOP Early Career Communicator award). Niamh is a passionate advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion within STEM.
